Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation and review of Annual or Semi-Annual Report to Shareholders, including:
    • Review of schedules of investments, financial statements, financial highlights and notes
    • Verify non-income producing securities
    • Assist in preparation of required financial statement
    • Assist in calculation of income and expense ratios, portfolio turnover percentage and net investment income per share
  • Analyze foreign securities to determine PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Co) status
  • Assist in preparation of various tax schedules related to wash sales transactions and investments in REITs, ETFs, Partnerships and Trusts.
  • Update Fair Valuation Summary for quarterly mutual fund Board Report
  • Assist in preparation of N-SAR Semi-Annual Report for Registered Investment Companies to be filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission
  • Analyze investments in brokerage firms for N-SAR inclusion
  • Reports to the Chief Financial Officer
  • 8 or more hours per week, unpaid

Secondary Responsibilities (as time allows):

  • Assist in monthly reconciliations – Realized Gain/Loss, Cost roll forward, and holdings
  • Assist in quarterly compliance testing
  • Assist in compilation/verification of daily fund packages

Intern Expected Experiences

  • To broaden knowledge of financial statements through assisting in the production of the Annual/Semi-Annual Reports to Shareholders and other regulatory filings
  • To obtain a deeper understanding of mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and various types of securities
  • To gain exposure to accounting principles, operations, rules and regulations unique to the mutual fund industry
  • To enrich academic finance experience through practical and valuable supervised work experience in the mutual fund accounting and administration field

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors degree preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytic skills
  • High integrity, trustworthiness and ethical standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; attention to detail
  • Sound and accurate judgment
  • Proactive, innovative, resourceful
  • Positive attitude; team player
