"I am optimistic for what the Council can accomplish to promote gender initiatives in the world of finance," added Linda Tarr-Whelan, Chair of the Women's Advisory Council and Demos Distinguished Senior Fellow. "This is a very strong group that will be able to help Pax World make great strides in advancing its women's empowerment platform."

Pax World's commitment to gender equality is exemplified through the Pax World Global Women's Equality Fund – the only mutual fund in America that focuses on investing in companies that are global leaders in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

"Pax World has shown great leadership in its commitment to gender equality as an investment concept and I do believe that increasingly investors want the ability to place their values behind their dollars," says Jacki Zehner, Vice Chair of the Women's Fund Network and member of the Women's Advisory Council. "I am excited to be working with Pax World to help create and grow investment vehicles that allow investors to do so."

In addition to the Fund, Pax World includes gender criteria in the sustainability analysis it applies to all its no-load mutual funds and also actively promotes gender equality and women's empowerment through an array of advocacy initiatives. Pax withholds proxy votes from, or votes against, every slate of company directors that does not include women, and follows up with a letter to each of those companies explaining why and encouraging the company to embrace board diversity. Pax World also recently sent letters to 82 global companies urging them to endorse and take steps to implement the Women's Empowerment Principles, a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). In collaboration with the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI), Calvert Asset Management Company and other institutional investors, Pax World is also co-leading an investor initiative focusing on encouraging increased representation of women on boards of directors and in senior management and to promote greater disclosure by companies on gender issues.
